The Madison Fire department was organized in July of 1971. Initially the department was housed at 340 Ashland Road which was shared with the Road Department. The Fire Chief was Harold Pritchett.

1970’s: The first Jaws of Life were placed into service, Emergency Medical Service was Started.

1972: The current Central Fire Station located at 843 Expressview Drive was opened. The building had previously served as a vending company. That same year Station 72, located at 801 Belmont Ave, was built. Chief Phil Ackerman was named Full Time Fire Chief.

1980’s: Brought Growth; Hiring of the first full-time Firefighters, Assistant Chief Evans and Captain John Pate graduated Paramedic School to provide Advanced Life Support to Madison Twp and surrounding areas. Both Stations became staffed 24/7.

1990’s to today: As incident volumes increased, so did staffing. Today we are staffed with six firefighter/paramedics 24/7, the Fire Chief and one Administrative Assistant.
In 2020 we answered over 2500 calls for service.
